Firefox Home is a free tool that allows you to synchronize your Firefox bookmarks, history and even open tabs, between your PC and your iPhone.
From the outset you should realize that Firefox Home is not a mobile version of Firefox, so it's not a replacement for Safari. Instead, the app provides you with secure access to your personal browser data on your iPhone through the Firefox Sync service.
You need to sign up to Firefox Sync and install a plug-in on your desktop browser before you can start using Firefox Home, but this is easy and just takes a few moments. All of the information on how to do so is provided in the account confirmation email you get when you sign up.
Once you're up and running, you can view your currently open tabs and bookmarks using the options in the menu at the bottom of the Firefox Home interface. Best of all, the Search feature will auto-suggest sites as you type, based on those in your history and bookmarks. This makes Firefox Home a useful tool for finding information quickly.
Tap on a link and Firefox Home will display a preview of the web page. From here you can navigate to other links on this page, but it's not actually a browser, in the sense that there's no address bar, back and forward buttons, search, etc.
In our tests, Firefox Home generally synced data pretty quickly - when it works. It refused to display any of our bookmarks, and it took a few refreshes to get the app to display our open tabs.
Firefox Home is a good idea and it can be a useful tool for accessing your browser history on the go. Syncing is far from flawless though, and the fact you can't browse properly gets frustrating after a while.
